I know that I am late to this party but since I designed this free 2019 Monthly Planner way back in October 2018 I figured I would still go ahead and release it. It’s likely that most organised people will already have this covered. I know however that there are people out there (like me) who aren’t quite as organised as they’d like to be. I see you nodding your head in agreement. Well, this freebie is for you.
If you have read my “new year, new start” post then you’ll know why I am late getting this out there. In short I was trying to figure out what to do with Little Chiqui Paperie in order to revive it. Since clearing that up in my head I have been able to move forward. Admittedly, I’ve made a whole lot of additional work for myself in the progress but I am excited about the future once again.
WHAT DO I NEED A MONTHLY PLANNER FOR?
I get asked this question all the time. The short answer is that you can use a monthly planner for whatever purpose you want (or need) to. Some people will know exactly why they do (or don’t) need a monthly planner. On the contrary some of the most organised people who spend their lives planning and organising will not know the answer to this question. If you are a newbie to all this it can seem overwhelming. With a few simple steps and a little bit of inspiration you can determine if a monthly planner would suit your needs;
- grab a pen and a piece of paper. Make a list of all the things you feel you need to organise (see the list below for some inspiration);
- Decide whether the items from your list need to be “managed” on a monthly basis or whether another time frame would be more suitable
- Pick the most important items from your list and add them to your monthly calendar
The only way to see whether the calendar is working for the selected purpose(s) is to trial it. It will become evident fairly quickly if a monthly set up is not fit for purpose.

HOW I USE A MONTHLY PLANNER
I use a physical dairy/planner to keep myself organised. In my planner I use 3 separate monthly planners. Each monthly planner has a different purpose. I keep a monthly planner in three different sections of my planner – the personal section, business section and fitness section. Within the personal section of my planner I use the monthly planner to keep track of things like school holidays, school events, birthdays, my husbands work schedule and any appointments. The monthly planner within my business section is used only to keep track of important tasks such as when payments/taxes are due. I also note my work days/hours and anything that is likely to interfere with my work time such as school holidays. The monthly planner in my fitness section is where I write down and keep track of all my workouts after I have completed them.
